Aliko Dangote needs little or no introduction in Nigerian and Africa at large and many of you would know why i said that . Do you know this man named Aliko Dangote whether yes or no i know it is not everybody would know him but i am going to give you an inspirational story of Aliko Dangote and how he started his business from the scratch to become a self-made business tycoon and the most famous African Billionaire .

The most successful and most famous business man in Africa, Aliko Dangote was born on the 10th of April 1957 in Kano, Nigeria into a  rich  Muslim faith family to Mother Mariya Sanusi Dantata and father, Mohammed Dangote . His zeal for business started from his early childhood days. Back then when he was still a child he was always interested in business and he use to buy cartons of candies and sell them to make little profit . His parents are dedicated muslim who would do anything possible to make sure that their child grow up in a religious way . He was very committed to to doing business, he use to sell packs of sweet in his secondary school days and becuase of this he was very popular in his school premises because his colleagues would always patronise him at all time .

He graduated from Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt in North Africa where he bagged a degree in Business . At the age of 21, he returned from Egypt and met with his weathy uncle, Sanusi Abdulkadir Dantata to obtain loan from him so that he could start his own business . He started his business from the very scratch with a petty trade , but being that he was that person that knows how to manage business and it’s environment he was able to rise from nothing to something becoming the richest  business tycoon in Nigeria and West Africa as a whole . He became a famous billionaire trading in Flour, Cement and sugar. But more recently Dangote has his eyes on oil Business in Nigeria, He hinted in April 2014 of his intention to invest $9 billion in building a Private Oil refinery, a petrochemical plant and fertilizer processing Complex.

Aliko Dangote is the CEO of a diverse conglomerate with very good revenue Dangote Group and this company is the leading manufacturer of everyday consumable commodities like Sugar( Dangote Sugar refinery is the largest in Africa and in the 3rd position of Sugar refinery in the World, producing 800,000 sugar tonnes on a yearly basis) other commodities are Noodles,Flour mill,Cement factory,Semovita, Salt factory,rice importation,Fertilizer plant and so many other commodities, The Dangote Group Operates in several African Countries of Togo, Cameroon, Benin Republic, Ghana, Zambia, South Africa and with Headquarters in Nigeria. Apart from this commodities , Dangote Group is also into other businesses like exportation of cocoa, Ginger, cashew nut, cotton, sesame seed to many Nations around the Globe. It might also interest you to know that Dangote Transport was issued licencee of Central Bank of Nigeria in 1990 to manage its fleet of vehicles . Aliko Dangote’s company is very important to Africans in terms of the products it offers , in addition he is the major employer of labour in Nigeria and among top employers in West Africa, with a total workforce of about 11,000 workers that remain unbeatable at this moment and may remain like this for donkey years.

His importance to Nigeria economy is beyong comprehension becuase it is very great and unthinkable . As if the above mentioned branches of his firms is not enough , the wealthiest man in Africa , Aliko Dangote is a major financier in Transport business in Nigeria, textile industry and housing sector which makes him unseated from the seat of the richest man in Africa . The Group has a ginnery in Kankawa, Katsina Statewith a capacity of 30 000 MT of seeded cotton annually.

Dangote Group has a vehicle unit with over 100 fully air-conditioned commuter buses , he is also into real estate with luxury massions and  complexes in several Nigeria corners including  Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Abuja and Kano. Dangote Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the group where yearly he spends millions for worthy causes such as contributions to educational and healthcare institutions, sinking of boreholes and giving of scholarships to vibrant citizen from a less furtunate homes . He talks about his driving force in business, the factors that have kept him above his competitors in business, his $800 million cement factory at Obajana, Kogi State and the N14 million mega company, which he and some industrialists have set up. He once he love investing in Nigeria and i don’t like investing in abroad , in his words ; “If you give me today $5 billion, I will not invest any abroad, I will invest everything here in Nigeria. Let us put heads together and work.”

In Nigeria and Africa today,  Dangote Group plays a leading role in the market . Dangote Group dominates the sugar market with his sugar refinery being the major supplier to 70% of the market. Dangote Group is the biggest firm that  imports fish, rice, pasta, fertilizer and cement on a large scale . Only recently Dangote is pondering on investing on telecommunications; his present work includes building of fourteen thousand kilometers of optic cables in Nigeria. For all this work he was honored in 2009 as the largest provider of employment in the whole of Nigerian construction industry as i earlier mention on this article.

We have noticed in Nigeria that wealth brings pride in the lives of many successful people , but in the case of Aliko Dangote Despite all this wealth and outstanding achievements as a businessman, Dangote remains simple, hardworking, humble and cool headed as he was in his very beginning . He started his journey with humbleness and despite all he has achieved nothing seems to have changed about his manners .

Forbes latest ranking (November, 2014 ranking)  rate Alhaji Dangote Net worth at $24.6 Billion Dollars. Aliko Dangote is rated the 23rd richest person in the World and the richest person  in Africa.

Few years, he revealed that he has intention to buy Arsenal Football Clud but the deal hasn’t been finalised. He further said he will buy it when the price  is fair enough
